Happy Carson in Maui

Cary was golfing with Mike and Suzanne Kelso at the Wailea Emerald Course, so the kids and I traveled south to find a beach to "hang" at. We stumbled upon Maluaka Beach, which was off the beaten path for sure. I took a turn on a road to get closer to the beach and the road ran out and dead-ended into this cool little public beach.

Carson and Colin started to play in the very soft and fine sand. I captured her here laughing at her silly brother goofing off. She had no idea I snapped a picture of her.

Colin with the eyes

I took this picture of Colin when we were in Maui during Thanksgiving 2008. It was near the end of our 10 day trip and the kids had mastered the art of body surfing. It was late in the afternoon and the waves were particularly strong that day – Colin had been taken out by the waves one too many times. He slowly came up to our little camp and plopped his behind down and started to shake uncontrollably. I wrapped him in a semi-dry towel and asked him if he needed anything and he just stat there and stared at me. I picked up my Nikon D50 digital camera and started snapping shots of him. He eventually asked me to stop taking pictures of him as I continued to intrude on his space.

Seized the moments

I feel that I am a bit behind the curve when it comes to the world of "blogging"; since this is my very first blog and my very first blog entry. But I am jumping in with two feet and hope to catch on fast. Because I am not someone who will stay around long if there is too much to figure out to get started. If it is not intuitive enough, then forget it! So begins the blog of Lori Carruthers...

I hope to use this blog as a journal of the daily going on about's of my life. I had no idea that this is what I would be setting up and creating today. But I have been thinking about creating a blog for sometime. It is just really hard to find the moments of time that I have to sit down and follow a creative whim. So I seized the moments tonight!
